Audit: Robins depot overpaid contractors by up to $24 million Submitted by 13WMAZ Web Staff Wednesday, February 24th, 2016, 8:19pm A federal audit says Warner Robins' Air Logistics Center overpaid three contractors by as much as $24 million. Those are the conclusions of an audit by the Department of Defense's Inspector General. Their report says the base failed to negotiate proper rates for work done by workers at the ALC for those contractors. The audit cites contracts with Boeing, for repairs to the C-17 aircraft; Northrup Grumman, for a low-power color radar system; and to Honeywell, for electronic components used in the F-15E aircraft. They've been honored with the 2015 Air Force Materiel Command Maintenance Effectiveness Award. The award honors Robins ALC for having record production numbers in 2015. The depot repairs aircraft keeps Air Force maintenance depot facilities in working condition, and programs software to help those depots run more efficiently. The ALC says their work contributed to 217 aircraft being delivered to customers across the globe. "We're deeply sorry for any offense or harm caused by our insensitivity and failure to provide appropriate oversight of our marketing process," Robins spokesman Roland Leach said in an email Thursday. "The flyer does not represent the values, opinions or views of the Department of Defense, the Air Force or Robins Air Force Base leadership and its employees." Leach said Robins officials realized the advertisement was inappropriate "several days ago" and immediately started taking the flyer down. All Community Sponsors Robins AFB air show announced for Oct. 2016 Submitted by 13WMAZ Web Staff Thursday, December 17th, 2015, 12:39pm Officials at Robins Air Force Base announced an upcoming air show for Oct. 1-2, 2016. The last show in 2012 attracted 180,000 spectators. They expect the same amount of spectators at the 2016 show. The announcement was made Thursday at the Museum of Aviation's Century of Flight Hangar. The Thunderbirds, the USAF air demonstration squadron, will participate in the show as well as 15 individual and team performers. There will also be 20 ground displays and up to 30 interactive and educational displays.
